Over 100 years of Molitor

Fritz Molitor, father of Karl Molitor, rents the building that still houses the shop today: a small store for travel goods and leather ware.

Fritz Molitor opens a shoemaker’s workshop. Two shoemakers make mountain boots, sports shoes and made-to-measure shoes.

Karl Molitor is born – on the top floor of today’s shop building.

The family opens a second shop in Mürren, but gives it up again three years later.

Karl Molitor wins the Lauberhorn downhill for the first time. With 6 downhill, 2 slalom and 3 combined victories – 11 in total – he is still regarded as the Lauberhorn’s record winner.

At the Olympic Games in St. Moritz Karl Molitor wins silver (combined) and bronze (downhill) and ends his racing career. In the same year he marries Antoinette Meyer.

Karl Molitor takes over as race director of the Lauberhorn races – for 42 years.

A licence agreement with Byson in Nara (Japan) allows the legendary Molitor buckle ski boots to be made under the Molitor name.

Competition becomes too strong: the boot factory in Wengen closes.

Karl Molitor is inducted into the Ski Hall of Fame.

Long-standing employees Elisabeth and Beat von Allmen take over Molitor Sport Wengen.

Karl Molitor dies at the age of 94.

Molitor Sport is the sports and fashion store in the heart of Wengen – with rental, a ski service workshop and its own products.
